What is Force layout generation?
Force layout generation lets you override the nesting thresholds configured in your recipes. Normally, when the recipe is running, the layout generation waits for:
- A minimum media coverage to optimize media usage,
- OR a time trigger: a maximum waiting time or a start time.
If you have an urgent job to process, you can use Force layout generation to skip these conditions and immediately generate pending layouts, even if they are not fully optimized.
How to use it?
From Recipe management (bulk actions)
- Go to Settings > Recipe management tab.
- Choose whether to force layout generation for one recipe or multiple recipes:
- For one recipe: Hover over the recipe name, click the three dots menu , then select Force layout generation.
- For multiple recipes: Check the boxes for the recipes you want, then click .
- Confirm in the popup by clicking Force generation.
Directly from a running recipe
Introduced in PrimeCenter V4.3.
When a recipe is running, the Generate button changes to Force generation. Click it to skip the trigger conditions and immediately generate pending layouts.
What happens when forcing generation?
Processing status
- A spinner appears next to the recipe name in the Recipe management tab and on the Force generation button in the recipe, while the system generates the layout.
- It may take a moment, depending on whether other tasks were ongoing: PrimeCenter waits for them to finish before forcing generation.
Results
- If no pending layouts were available, a popup informs you.
- You will see the forced layouts in the recipe’s layout list.
- If automatic export is enabled, the export will also be triggered.
After completion
The recipe automatically restarts and waits for new files or the next nesting triggers.
