Cutters compatibility
Caldera XML driver is a generic driver. It is available in the list of cutters in CalderaRIP.
The following cutters use a driver based on the Caldera XML driver:
|
|
All of them are selectable in the list of cutters in CalderaRIP.
History
- CalderaRIP V17.3: A new "Add direction mark" checkbox was added to the Misc. area of the Cutter Tools Configuration for almost all cutting drivers (both GrandCut and VisualCut). Activating this new field adds direction marks in the form of a triangle pointing to the bottom edge of the cut job, which significantly speeds up the operators' work when managing these files.
- CalderaRIP V16.0.1: Possibility to remove orientation information in barcodes.
- CalderaRIP V16.0: New Editor tab added to manage materials and cutting methods association.
- CalderaRIP V15.0: SinaJet and Veloblade added.
- CalderaRIP V14.0 [210621]: The Methods and Materials tabs are now available.
What is the configuration to apply?
Regarding the cutter configuration in CalderaRIP
The process is similar to other cutters, you just need to adapt the parameters. You can refer to this article for details on adding a new cutter to CalderaRIP.
To adapt to your cutter, you need to select the Caldera XML driver in the Cutter parameters window:
- Name: choose a name (will appear in the cutters list)
- Model: select Caldera XML
- Queue: choose a directory where your cutting files will be saved.
- Hostname: enter the IP address or the hostname of your cutter workstation
How to set up methods and materials
1st step: Enable methods/materials associations
To be able to set up methods and materials manually, you have to tick the "Use methods/materials" option in the Cutter tools configuration window.
By default, this option is disabled as "legacy" behavior to ensure seamless use for users of previous versions. This also means that there are no associations:
- Media selected on the printer will be embedded in the Cut file
- Material information is not available
- Methods names are filled with contour names
If you want to use the driver this way, no need to go ahead with the next step.
2nd step: Associate materials and methods
Refer to the following article for the method:
- How to manually associate materials and methods between CalderaRIP and the controller? (before CalderaRIP V16)
- How to automatically associate materials/methods with the GrandCut Editor? (from CalderaRIP V16)
Features in Marks and Margins Misc block
- Generate segments rather than Bezier curves: depending on the type of cutter you have, if it doesn't support Bezier curves, you can generate segments instead. This option has no effect with the Jingwei driver, where it is internally forced to segment generation.
-
Marks type:
- "Cross" for manual calibration
- "Dot" for usual calibration with a camera
- Use methods/materials: enable to make manual associations in the Methods tab and Materials tab.
- Output naming: facilitate your job sorting by changing the format of output filenames.
Other info
- Automatic registration marks option is available with Caldera XML drivers to put marks between shapes in a Step-and-Repeat or Nesting.
- Matic Helios Plus driver has a specific feature to place edge marks in a random non-even way that is used by the controller of the cutter to recognize a job, replacing the use of barcodes.
- Jingwei driver outputs by default files with only the barcode in the name. You must check the "Output name contains source" option to have the name of the source job in the output file name.
