This article describes Synch&Deploy, a CalderaDock utility that enables CalderaRIP users on Linux to quickly deploy printer drivers across multiple workstations.
Background
- Sync & Deploy was originally a module within CalderaRIP, available since version 11, that allowed drivers and profiles to be synchronized or loaded remotely.
- With the release of CalderaRIP version 15, a new component called CalderaDock (version 1.12) was introduced. In this version:
- Printer management features from Sync&Deploy were moved to CalderaDock.
- Media profile management was transferred to the EasyMedia module, to maintain proper synchronization with the printers.
- Over time, CalderaDock evolved into a standalone application. It still includes the Sync & Deploy utility, which is primarily used to deploy printer drivers across multiple workstations, particularly on Linux, as macOS security restrictions make this utility less reliable on that platform.
Install Sync&Deploy
- Open CalderaDock.
- Go to the Tools tab.
- On Modules, locate Sync&Deploy:
- Click Install:
- The download will begin and a progress bar will appear:
- When prompted, enter your computer password to complete the installation.
- After installation, click Launch to start the application.
Use Sync&Deploy
