There may be occasions when It's necessary to certify that some print has the exact size. For example: when using panels on Tiling+, it is important to certify that the panels are equal in size or will fit to a determined size to work properly when they are assembled.
When printed together or separated in the print media, changes in size may arise due to printing variables (printer maintenance, temperature, material distortion, etc). That's why here are some tips to confirm the size of the image printed at the digital level.
Step 1
On Tiling+, certify that all tiles have the same size or inspect the size of the tiles (if it is a tiling job):
- On the left side of Tiling+ app window, use the check box "same size for all blocks"
- On the right side of the same window, inspect the desired size of the tiles, by clicking on the tile and observing the size on the region indicated below:
Step 2
Certify the print size on the printing layout window.
Warning
Make sure that the image fits in the printing media, otherwise, CalderaRIP may adjust it to fit the possible printing area.
If the desired image does not fit in the media (if it is too large, for example), and the printer can print on a larger material, add a new material size on the ServerAdmin module.
After that, certify that the printing scale is 100% as indicated below:
Step 3
Check the image size before printing at the RIP Queue stage. Starting with CalderaRIP V14.1, it is possible to have a hi-resolution preview from the printing layout (Nest-O-Matik must be active):
One may use the side rulers to get a notion of the final printing size. Besides that, one may also export a hi-resolution image to verify with precision if the printing size is right on an external image application like Adobe PhotoShop, for example:
Step 4
Check the final image size after printing with PrintProof (available since CalderaRIP V15).
By configuring a PrintProof, one may export a hi-resolution image that can be inspected with the measuring tools on an external image application like Adobe PhotoShop.
The PrintProof image has the exact dimensions of the image sent to the printer, this way it is a valuable tool to guarantee that printing sizes and dimensions are conforming to the expected values.
Therefore, there will be no doubts whatsoever if one image or portion of the image (eg.: tiles or a particular sticker or print mark) has the desired dimension or not at a digital level.
Info
If you are still unsure whether or not the final image has the desired dimensions when printed, it is even possible to obtain a raster copy of the data sent to the printer for external inspection.
