Warning

Summa F Series: OptiSCOUT drivers do not support Postnet barcodes or OPOS registration marks from SummaFlex. Use SummaFlex drivers if these features are required.

Drivers

OptiSCOUT

This driver sends cutting information from CalderaRIP to OptiScout only. Communication is one-way, meaning information cannot be sent back from OptiScout to CalderaRIP.

Material management: Not available
Contour–cut method association: Not media-specific

OptiSCOUT_Connected

This driver enables bidirectional communication between CalderaRIP and OptiScout. With this connection, some material information can be imported into CalderaRIP, allowing more advanced configuration:

Material management: Available through synchronization with OptiScout.
Contour–cut method association: Can be media-specific.

For the connection to work, configure the cutter driver as follows:

In the Hostname field of the cutter parameters, enter the controller IP address and port 52000.
Use the format: IP:port (for example: 192.168.1.10:52000).

Driver history

CalderaRIP V17.3.1:
- OptiSCOUT_Connected:
  - Fixed a bug in the driver code, which ignored the synchronization of methods with certain special characters (e.g. a dash "-"). Now methods with these special characters are not ignored.
CalderaRIP V17.3:
- Both Caldera drivers are now compatible with version 2.6 of the OptiScout controller, which made it possible to include the following improvements:
  - New material types have been added.
  - Now there is a return address that can be sent to the controller to tell jobs are done.
    The new "Add direction mark" checkbox.
  - A new "Add direction mark" checkbox was added to the Misc. area of the Cutter Tools Configuration for most cutting drivers. Activating this new field adds direction marks in the form of a triangle pointing to the bottom edge of the cut job, which significantly speeds up the operators' work when managing these files.
CalderaRIP V17.1:
- OptiSCOUT:
  - Fixed the granularity of arc segmentation, so grommets have a smoother shape.
CalderaRIP V17:
- OptiSCOUT:
  - Fixed the direction of rotation for 90 and 270 degrees when forcing rotation
  - Correction of a bug that did not allow the generation of Bezier curves
CalderaRIP V16.0.2:
- It is no longer necessary to scale the marks down on the cut controllers since now they have the same size both in the print and in the cut file

Installation

Info

In the past, different cutting devices required separate licenses: CutServer for roll-to-roll cutters, GrandCut (A or B) for flatbed cutters, and a cut option for trimmers. This resulted in different installation methods depending on the device.
Today, annual subscribers and perpetual license holders with CalderaCare can use any CalderaRIP‑supported cutting device without an additional license.

Features

Registration type (only with the OptiSCOUT_Connected driver). Choose where marks are placed on your job depending on the cutting you want.

Best fit: geometric cutting objects are modified and/or distorted to best possible fit to each area of the print.
