Printer tab
- Cut media after print: it enables the embedded cutter and automatically cuts the job after the print.
- Rewind after print: rewinds the media to its initial position after printing.
- Check media width: a warning is shown if the media width is smaller than the printed document.
- Show job name on printer panel: if enabled, it displays the job name on the printer panel screen. When disabled, the printer panel shows the current print mode.
- Don't check printer inks: doesn't display a warning if the printer inks do not match the selected print mode. When disabled, a warning is shown when a required ink is missing in the printer.
Media tab
-
Information: at the top of the window, you are able to see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
- Save: when you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so there will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, the changes you made are only applied to the current job.
- Reload: will revert back to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
- Horizontal compensation (%): we recommend not to modify this. Any deviation is likely to be mechanical on the printer's side.
- Vertical compensation (%): this can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.
Warning
If the checkbox for any of the following options is unchecked, the parameter value set on the printer panel will be utilized.
- Heating system: set the Print heater and the Dryer temperature levels in Celsius Degrees. The range goes from 30° to 45° for the Print heater and 30° to 50° for the Dryer. You can turn it off by taking the temperature below 30° to OFF.
-
Vacuum power: you can choose the vacuum power. Use a predefine state:
- normal
- strong
- off
- or select a percentage
-
Cutting vacuum power: you can choose the vacuum power of the cutter. Use a predefine state:
- normal
- strong
- weak
- off
- or select a percentage
-
Head height: adjust the gap between the head and the plate by selecting one of the following parameters:
- Low
- Middle
- High
- Space between jobs: space is expressed in centimeters.
- Drying time (s): duration allowed to the drying after the print (in seconds).
- Drying feed: function that performs feed to the top of the dryer to promote drying after printing has finished.
- Media feed calibration (%): this specifies the distance-correction value in the media-feed direction.
- Prefeed: Unroll the media and pull it back before a cutting operation.
- Cutter friendly: indicates if the media supports cutting or not. It is a safeguard in case the printer parameter Cut media after print is enabled for a media that is not compatible. In order to cut the media, both options must be enabled.
Advanced parameters
- Overprint: this performs additional passes to increase ink density. The user can define the amount of overprint layers with a factor between 1 and 3.
- Scan interval (s): specifies the minimum time to pause the head movement between passes (slows down the print and improves drying).
- Cleaning while printing: performing cleaning during printing, indicate the degree of cleaning to perform. It can remove potential clogging or condensation on the head during print.
- Cleaning interval (s): time interval of Cleaning while printing (from 0 to 60000 seconds).
Media: Override tab
The driver allows for overriding certain print mode parameters. This advanced feature lacks safeguards; if you enter out-of-range values, the printer will reject the job and display a "Data Error" message.
Info
Adjusting certain parameters can be beneficial when the default print mode settings yield unsatisfactory results, such as misaligned dots or unwanted patterns between printhead passes.
Parameters can be overridden in the Media Override tab. Each override must be enabled before use; if disabled, the print modes will revert to their predefined default values. Note that these predefined values are not displayed in the interface. However, all currently used values are shown in the annotations when the "More Details" option is enabled.
- Scan Speed: scan speed can only be reduced by specifying the amount in % (in steps of 10%). The value 100% corresponds to the predefined value of selected print mode.
- Feed Speed: 10%-100% by 10% steps. Allows to reduce the feed speed relatively to the print mode.
Warning
In some cases, print modes have RIPC (Roland Intelligent Pass Control) disabled by default, typically in the fastest or fixed-dot modes. When this occurs, overriding the pattern alone is insufficient; you must also override the Passmask overlap parameter.
- Passmask pattern: This defines the RIPC (Roland Intelligent Pass Control) pass mask pattern. If the default value is not satisfactory, the correct value should be determined by comparing prints using different values. The value Off disables the RIPC feature.
- Dot type override: allows to force specific dot type. Dot type defines the size of ink droplets. Giving a value not supported by a print mode could generate printer data errors.
Warning
We do not recommend changing the Vardot settings, as they are reserved for advanced usage only.
- Vardot L/M factor: factor between Large and Medium dots.
- Vardot L/S factor: factor between Large and Small dots.
- Vardot max S: maximum percentage of Small dots.
- Vardot max M: maximum percentage of Medium dots.
- Fixdot level: choice of the fixdot level between Small, Medium or Large.
Media: Comments tab
On this tab you can see comments coming from the EasyMedia module. It can include comments from the global media window and from the profile project window.
Status tab
- Inks: information about the ink configuration and the inks levels in %.
- Heaters: temperature level of the Print heater and the Dryer.
- Media: information about the media loaded on the printer.
- Misc: complementary info about the printer (model, serial number, firmware version).
- Refresh: button to refresh the tab.
Inks tab
This tab is not available for TrueVIS-VG3-CMYK-TE2/TR2 drivers.
- Enable Ink reordering: if you see that the color channels of your printer seem mixed up, you can enable the ink reordering. For each channel, specify the right color.
- Assistant: use the Assistant to help you set the correct colors. Note that sometimes the order of the ink does not match the order of the cartridges.
As indicated in the pop-up window, first print the target, then adjust the colors based on the printed output. Click "OK" to automatically reorder the inks accordingly.
