DG DIMENSE Dimensor S(G) - Printer settings

Printer tab

Veika_Dimensor_S_Printer.png

  • Cut media after print: it enables the embedded cutter and automatically cuts the job after the print.
  • Check media width: a warning is shown if the media width is smaller than the printed document.
  • Show job name on printer panel: if enabled, it displays the job name on the printer panel screen. When disabled, the printer panel shows the current print mode.
  • Don't check printer inks: doesn't display a warning if the printer inks do not match the selected print mode. When disabled, a warning is shown when a required ink is missing in the printer.
  • Force 600mm space at the end (legacy): this parameter generates a blank space of 600mm at the end of the print. This parameter has been kept from older versions, to avoid changes in behavior when installing recent versions of the driver.
  • Force space at end (mm): in recent versions of the driver, it is also possible to manually adjust the length of the blank space at the end of the print (with a value between 0-2400 mm).
  • Manual alignment of color planes (Hxy): in case of color alignment issues in the job, it is possible to manually configure each color plane by matching a plane of data with a row of nozzles on the head (recommended for experienced users only).

Only on the Dimensor SG:

  • Channel for space at end: Select ink channel for blank space data. Note that this setting must be enabled at the same time as Force space at end (mm).

Media tab

  • Information: at the top of the window, you are able to see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
    • Save: when you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so there will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, the changes you made are only applied to the current job.
    • Reload: will revert back to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
  • Horizontal compensation (%): we recommend not to modify this. Any deviation is likely to be mechanical on the printer's side.
  • Vertical compensation (%): this can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.

  Warning

If the checkbox for the following options is unchecked, the parameter value set by default on the printer panel will be used.

  • Heating system: set the Preheater, the Print heater, and the Dryer temperature levels in Celsius Degrees. The range goes until 45° for the Pre Heater and the Print heater and until 55° for the Dryer. You can also turn these systems off, by taking the temperature to 0° (OFF).
  • Vacuum power: you can choose the vacuum power. Use a predefine state:
    • normal
    • strong
    • off
    • or select a percentage
  • Space between jobs: space is expressed in centimeters.
  • Drying time (s): duration allowed to the drying after the print (in seconds).
  • Drying feed: function that performs feed to the top of the dryer to promote drying after printing has finished.
  • Media feed calibration (%): specifies the distance-correction value in the media-feed direction, which corrects possible banding effects.
  • Cutter friendly: indicates if the media supports cutting or not. It is a safeguard in case the printer parameter Cut media after print is enabled for a media that is not compatible. In order to cut the media, both options must be enabled.

Advanced parameters

  • Overprint: this performs additional passes to increase ink density. The user can define the number of overprint layers with a factor between 1 and 3.
  • Scan interval (s): specifies the minimum time to pause the head movement between passes (slows down the print and improves drying).
  • Cleaning while printing: performing cleaning during printing, indicate the degree of cleaning to perform. It can remove potential clogging or condensation on the head during print.
  • Cleaning interval (s): time interval of Cleaning while printing (from 0 to 60000 seconds).

Media: Override tab

In this tab, you can override some of the predefined print mode parameters. Although the predefined parameters are not displayed in the interface, they are printed in the annotations (with the "More details" option activated).

To override any of these values, you must check the corresponding box and enter the value manually. Note that overriding preset parameters is an advanced function with no foolproof mechanisms, and if you force values that are out of range, the printer will reject the job with a "Data Error" message.

  Info

Changing some parameters can be useful when the default print mode settings give unsatisfactory results, such as misaligned dots or patterns appearing between head passes.

Sometimes the print modes have RIPC (the Intelligent Pass Control system) disabled by default (most often, the fastest modes or fixed-dot modes). In that case, changing or overriding some parameters might also be useful.

  • Scan Speed: scan speed can only be reduced by specifying the amount in % (in steps of 10%). The value 100% corresponds to the predefined value of selected print mode.
  • Feed Speed: 10%-100% by 10% steps. Allows to reduce the feed speed relatively to the print mode.

  Warning

We do not recommend that you change the Vardot configuration. It is reserved for advanced use only.

  • Vardot L/M factor: factor between Large and Medium dots.
  • Vardot L/S factor: factor between Large and Small dots.
  • Vardot max S: maximum percentage of Small dots.
  • Vardot max M: maximum percentage of Medium dots.
  • Fixdot level: choice of the fixdot level between Small, Medium or Large.

Media: Comments tab

Veika_Dimensor_S_Media_Comments.png

On this tab you can see comments coming from the EasyMedia module. It can include comments from the global media window and from the profile project window.

Status tab

This tab shows the global state of the printer (Ready, Not Available, or Printing). All data comes from the printer when it is available and ready.

Example taken from another printer/driver model
  • Inks: information about the ink configuration and the inks levels in %.
  • Heaters: temperature level of the Pre heater, the Print heater and the Dryer.
  • Media: information about the media loaded on the printer.
  • Misc: complementary info about the printer (model, serial number, firmware version).
  • Refresh: button to refresh the tab.

Inks tab

Veika_Dimensor_S_Inks.png

  • Enable Ink reordering: if you see that the color channels of your printer seem mixed up, you can enable ink reordering. For each channel, specify the right color. Note that in the Dimensor SG, there is also ink reordering but it is only there to force the right ink configuration.
  • Assistant: use the Assistant to help you set the correct colors. Note that sometimes the order of the ink does not match the order of the cartridges.

As said on the pop-up window, first Print the Target then set the colors as seen on the print, and click OK. This will automatically reorder the Inks accordingly.
