Drivers
Info
Each model has its own driver. Only HP Latex 630 W supports under / overflow of white print support and multilayer sandwich mode.
Warning
The drivers require CalderaRIP V16.3.1 (or later) to function.
Also, these drivers are not compatible with macOS 11 (Big Sur). Affected users are advised to upgrade their macOS or change to Linux.

Driver history

CalderaRIP V18.2:
- A new option, "Display White Printhead Warnings," is now available under Printer Settings > Printer tab. When enabled, the printer driver will display two distinct messages based on your production:
-
For jobs with white ink, the driver will prompt you to unload the white ink printhead from the storage system, and install it following the instructions on the printer's control panel.
Warning
If you don't install the white printhead, printing will continue without interruption; however, the controller will register an error.
For more information on handling white inks in these printers, please refer to the HP documentation (starting on page 202).
- For jobs without white ink, the driver will recommend placing the white ink printhead in the storage system to extend its life.
-
- A new option, "Display White Printhead Warnings," is now available under Printer Settings > Printer tab. When enabled, the printer driver will display two distinct messages based on your production:
-
CalderaRIP V18.1:
- Only 630-W: Fixed issues related to abortion and errors when printing multi-layer jobs. Previously, if an error occurred during the printing process, the software could lock and repeatedly display the error message "unable to request slave raster data!" for subsequent jobs. A driver restart was necessary to resume printing.
- Resolved ICC profile override issue during a “Missing preset-only synchronization”. In earlier versions, the local ICC profile was incorrectly replaced by the printer's ICC profile during this process.
-
CalderaRIP V18.0:
- Revision A. For macOS users: Fixed driver initialization, which was failing due to missing dependencies.
-
CalderaRIP V17.3:
- Fixed a bug that did not allow printing multiple copies of multipage PDF files (only the first page was printed).
-
CalderaRIP V17.2:
- Revision A: Fixed an EasyMedia synchronization issue on macOS Ventura and Sonoma, which caused the module to get stuck in the synchronization process.
-
CalderaRIP V17.1:
- Revision B: Fixed an EasyMedia synchronization issue on macOS Ventura and Sonoma, which caused the module to get stuck in the synchronization process.
- Revision A:
- Fixed job document formatting errors when trying to print with the drivers.
- Added a "Reduce media between print and cut jobs" setting in the Media tab of Printer Settings. This setting reduces the media waste between jobs by limiting the margins.
- Updated the drivers to include the latest SDK (Software Development Kit) from HP. These now add the system name and version to the print job.
- Support of SNMP V2 / IPV4: It is now possible to use the "Auto-detection" feature with these drivers (available in the connection tab of the ServerAdmin module).
-
CalderaRIP V17.0:
- Revision A: Updated the drivers to include the latest SDK (Software Development Kit) from HP, which fixes several bugs and a major driver crash when querying the printer.
-
CalderaRIP V16.3:
- Revision A: Fix for quality mismatches when updating the media or printer quality base.
- Both drivers have been available since this version.

Tips & tricks
Also within the ServerAdmin module, there is a tab called "Misc" where you will find options to fix unexpected behaviors with your HP Latex 630 (W) devices:
-
Low-level report: This is the log of the driver. If your driver presents unexpected behaviors, this feature is useful for identifying the problem.
1. Check the corresponding box to enable it and restart the driver to validate the changes (the software will prompt you for this).
2. Once the low-level reports are enabled, reproduce the issue.
3. Save/Recover the report to check what's wrong with the driver. - Driver reset: This will remove any cache file kept internally by the driver to "reset" the driver to "factory default". Clicking this button will remove the internal media database, internal quality index, and the ICC cache file.
