Banners come in various types depending on their intended use. For more details, see this article. PrimeCenter provides several tools to help you create banners efficiently. This article explains how to create a banner with grommets and a hem, following the scheme below:
For information on creating double-sided banners, see this article.
Prerequisites
You may need to learn how file processing functions are applied in PrimeCenter.
- Understanding check/fix profiles and how to use them
- Managing check/fix profiles
- How to apply a check/fix profile to a file?
- List of check/fix profiles included in PrimeCenter
Warning
- The order in which check/fix profiles are applied affects the final result.
- For example, applying a bleed before or after grommets will change the offset size.

Process
1. Add grommets
The first step is to add grommets to the banner. For more details on configuring grommets, see this guide.
- Go to the Input check/fix profile module
.
- Search and select "Place Grommets".
- Configure parameters as needed.
- In the recipe configuration panel, go to the Files tab and open Import settings.
- Under Tools, click to open the tool list.
- Select Input check/fix profile to apply profiles automatically during file import.
- From the list of check/fix profiles, search for "Place Grommets".
- Configure parameters as needed.
- In the recipe configuration panel, go to the Files tab and open Import settings.
- Under Tools, click to open the tool list to be applied automatically during file import.
- Search for "Grommets".
- Configure parameters as needed.
2. Add a bleed
To prevent unwanted white edges, we need to add a bleed around the image, just as with cut contours.
There are two ways to do this:
- Using the standard Print Bleed.
- Applying the “Advanced Bleed” check/fix profile.
In automatic mode, check/fix profiles are applied after the Print Bleed module settings. Since we need flexibility in the bleed placement, we will use “Advanced Bleed” instead.
- In the Input check/fix profile list, search for and select “Advanced Bleed”.
- Place it second in the list (after “Place Grommets”).
- Configure parameters as needed.
There are two ways to do this:
- Using the standard Bleed.
- Applying the “Advanced Bleed” tool.
The Bleed tool is always applied first. Since we need flexibility in the bleed placement, we will use “Advanced Bleed” instead.
- In the Tools list, search for and select “Advanced Bleed”.
- Place it second in the list (after “Grommets”).
- Configure parameters as needed.
3. Add a hemline
A hemline serves as a visual guide for folding the banner.
- In the Input check/fix profile list, search for and select “Place Lines”.
- Place it third in the list (after “Advanced Bleed”).
- Configure parameters as needed.
- Since a bleed was applied earlier, include it in the offset calculation.
- To create a dotted line, set the Pattern parameter to Spaced.
- In the Tools list, search for and select “Lines”.
- Place it third in the list (after “Advanced Bleed”).
- Configure parameters as needed.
- Since a bleed was applied earlier, include it in the offset calculation.
- To create a dotted line, set the Pattern parameter to Spaced.
4. Define the hem size
Finally, we will add a white area for the hem. This is the size of the area we want to cut, so we will create a cut contour. We will apply a last check/fix profile.
- In the Input check/fix profile list, search and select "Create contour from PDFbox". Leave it at the fourth position in the list.
- Select the PDF box that will be the reference for placing the cut contour. Give the cut contour a name that will be recognized by your cutter.
- Other parameters are up to you, but remember that the measurements you enter must be calculated from the selected PDF box.
- In the Tools list, search and select "Contour from PDFbox". Leave it at the fourth position in the list.
- Select the PDF box that will be the reference for placing the cut contour. Give the cut contour a name that will be recognized by your cutter.
- Other parameters are up to you, but remember that the measurements you enter must be calculated from the selected PDF box.
Example
This example was created using PrimeCenter V2.5.1.
Input image
We want to create a banner with grommets and a hem using the following file: Galactik_Drinks.pdf
Check/Fix profile settings
1. Place Grommets
2. Advanced Bleed
3. Place lines
4. Create contour from PDFbox
Final output
With these settings, PrimeCenter generates the following PDF: Galactik_Drinks_Banner.pdf
