April 2025

Version 3.9.0

New

Licenses: A new modal is now available at the Home tab (and at the bottom left of the Licenses tab), allowing you to request a demo license:
Calderadock v3.9, request demo license.gif
To use this feature, simply complete a short form within the app and you will receive your trial license by email.

  Info

A Caldera account and an internet connection are required to access this feature.

New

User Experience: When you are not signed in, CalderaDock now opens directly on the Sign In / Sign Up tab:
Calderadock v3.9, sign in tab.png

Once signed in, or if you choose to skip the login, the Home tab highlights tools for requesting a demo or activating a Caldera product license.
This new section also features help articles that can be accessed without logging in, should you need assistance.

Improved

Licenses

  • This version includes improvements in the license attachment process. After installing a product through CalderaDock, the application will display messages on the upper right side that will guide you to attach the license depending on your case:
    • If one license is available, its details will be displayed so you can attach it with a single click:
      Calderadock v3.9, one license available.png
    • If multiple licenses are available, a message will appear in the top right corner directing you to the Licenses tab so you select one.
    • You will also see a message if the application does not find any available licenses to attach.
  • We have also improved the user experience in the final step of license activation. In addition to congratulating you on your successful activation, this step now features two buttons: one for managing your Caldera products and another for managing its licenses.

Improved

User experience: You can now easily report application logs to Caldera's Support Team, providing them with maximum information when a bug occurs in production. Logs are stored in a file based on the current log level set in the configuration, ensuring you have the necessary information ready if you need to contact support.

Fixed

Licenses:

  • Correction of a behavioral issue of the application, which did not allow the deletion of licenses hosted locally on the computer.
  • Resolved an issue where licenses were not visible in CalderaDock when the language was switched to Traditional Chinese.

Fixed

User experience:

  • Fixed a performance issue that could arise during the initial startup with an empty cache. The application now creates a list of unique missing resources to download them sequentially, reducing network and disk write overloads and enhancing overall performance.
  • Removed the CalderaDock icon from the applications list in the corresponding tab, as it was deemed redundant.
  • Now the application keeps your session open for much longer (14 days, compared to 24 hours for the previous version), which relieves you from having to sign in to your Caldera account so often.

Improved

Applications: The Mount utility to connect shared folders avoiding additional applications or the Terminal, is now open for all Linux users (before it was only for CalderaCare Linux users).

Also, the performance of the Services utility has been improved. It is now possible to start, stop, or restart one or several Caldera software with the same utility.

When a change is done in the license registration, for example, a new driver is added, now the station with CalderaDock V3.0 will get a notification and do the Auto-Update of the license at the exact same moment the license was changed. Changes will be applied both in the host and the client license station.

CostProof alone has been kept on CalderaRIP's Spooler and, in the near future, other new tools for cost and ink consumption management will be available.

Deprecated

Installation: CalderaDock is no longer compatible with Linux Debian 9 (Stretch) and earlier.

  Info

If you use any of these Debian versions, you can install CalderaDock V2.0.X or earlier.

Known issue

The system tray icon is missing

On Linux Debian 10.0 (Buster), the new CalderaDock icon might not be visible in the system tray. This is due to an incompatibility between CalderaDock and the OS desktop environment. The workaround is to re-enable some elements manually:

  • Open the Console
  • Type gsettings set org.mate.panel enable-sni-support true
  • Press Enter
  • Finally, log out and log in to your user account
