Possible error messages

"White ink can only be used with media type ..."

White ink is only allowed when using media PVC, PET, Paper, or Fabric, but not when media Tarpaulin is selected.

"Varnish ink can only be used with media type ..."

As for the White inks, media that can be used with clear ink are restricted to PVC, PET, or Paper media.

"Resolution ... cannot be used for Varnish printing"

The resolution 600x600 cannot be used with clear ink, please select another resolution.

"This layer configuration cannot be used with media Paper"

In addition to the previous limitation, when selecting Paper, one cannot use the following layer configuration that contains both Clear ink and White ink:

  • Color-White-Clear
  • Clear-White-Color

"Ink requested by mode is not available on printer"

This error usually happens when there is a communication error between the CalderaRIP and the printer, or when you have selected a mode containing inks that are not available on the printer (Light Cyan, Light Magenta), or you have enabled White separation, or Varnish separation and printer is missing those inks.

"You have selected a special ink to print, but no ink separation has been set up"

This error occurs when you have selected a layer configuration containing a special ink (e.g. White over Color) in the Printer Settings, but you didn't configure the ink output (ink separation) in the Page Setup (e.g. White tab). Please see the article: Printing with Special Inks.
