Info
The functions available in the driver of this model can also be overridden with the printer panel. If something does not work as you expected, please check the printer panel settings.
Printer tab
-
Scan width: Define the scanning behavior of the printer carriage. Also called logical seek in the Mimaki Operation Manual. You can choose between:
- Printer: The carriage will scan the full length of the printer no matter the size of the printed area.
- Job: The carriage will only scan over the width of the printed area.
- Refresh Level: Frequency of head quick cleanings during print. You can choose between Low, Normal, High, and Very High.
- Cut media: Choose if the printer cuts and extracts the sheet after printing a job, or keeps printing the following jobs next.
Only available With Special driver

- Varnish special effect: When printing Varnish, this setting allows you to select the desired finishing for the varnish layer, between Matte or Glossy.
-
Layer configuration: Select the layer configuration for this job. For example, if you select White-Color-Clear, the White layer will be printed first, then the Color one, and finally the Clear one. Layer configuration options are:
- Color
- White
- Clear
- Color over White
- White over Color
- Clear over Color
- Color-White-Color
- Color-Clear-Color
- Color-White-Clear
- Clear-White-Color
- White-Color-Clear
Good to know
The driver lets you print the same image for up to 3 layers on both sides.
Media tab
Info
The following parameters are linked to an EasyMedia project and may influence the colorimetric and quality results. The values are set when creating a colorimetric calibration in EasyMedia. So changing them on the fly at the time of printing could affect the accuracy and quality of the print color.
-
Information: At the top of the window, you can see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
- Save: When you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so they will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, your changes are only applied to the current job.
- Reload: Will revert to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
Good to know
Sometimes with the heating and cooling process, some media could deform and reform, and printing size might defer to what was defined during job configuration. The following parameters allow you to compensate for this effect, you can enable the compensation and compute the percentage using physical measurements vs file theoretical measurements.
- Horizontal compensation (%): We recommend modifying it only if necessary, as any deviation will probably be due to mechanical causes on the printer.
- Vertical compensation (%): This can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension, which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles, for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.
- Overprint: This selects a factor by which each pass will be repeated. It allows more ink printed for better density. With these drivers, you can select 1 or 2.
-
Dot type: Select the ink drop size that will be used for the job. Selectable values are:
- Automatic: A combination of Small, Medium, and Large dots will be used
- Small: Only Small dots will be used
- Medium: Only Medium dots will be used
- Large: Only Large dots will be used
- Drying time per scan: Allows you to set up a drying time pause between each pass to allow the ink to dry between two passes. Set up the pause time with intervals of 1/10s. Can be between 0s and 9.9 seconds.
- Absorption fan: Select the strength of the absorption fan, you can operate with Weak, Standard, or Strong.
- Drying time: Configure the drying time before ending the job and starting the next operation, either cutting and extracting the sheet or starting the next job. Configure the number of seconds before the next operation. Can be between 0s and 999 seconds.
- Feed adjust: Allows to fine-tune the media feed between passes, to avoid a white gap or overlap between passes. Please contact Mimaki or see the Printer Operating manual for further details.
- Cut tool, cut speed, cut acceleration, cut force: When using Print and Cut (Instant Cut), use the selected settings for the cutting operation.
-
UV level adjustment: Adjust UV curing strength to avoid over-curing or under-curing of inks. When specifying 0%, it will use the recommended light volume of each print mode.
When specifying a negative value, the light volume will be decreased, and when specifying a positive value, the light volume will be increased. Adjust between -50% and +50% of the recommended light volume. -
Heating system: Allow to select the curing temperature. When disabled, it will use the panel's default value, when enabled, it will use the selected value. This model has three heaters:
- Pre-heater configurable between 20 to 60°C
- Print-heater configurable between 20 to 50°C
- After-heater configurable between 20 to 60°C
Comments tab
On this tab you can see comments coming from the EasyMedia module. It can include comments from the global media window and from the profile project window.
