Troubleshooting SIGSEGV Errors in HP Drivers

This support article will guide you through common causes of driver errors "Interrupted by SIGSEGV" (Segmentation Fault), particularly when using HP-Latex printers.

For users of Version 10.1 (build 150923 or newer) 

Latest HP-Latex and Z-series drivers

  • Ensure that you have the latest drivers for HP-Latex and Z-series printers. Navigate to Settings Tab > ServerAdmin > Select the printer > Configure... > Misc Tab and press the "Driver Reset" button. For more information:
  • You can also reset the printer configuration by going to Settings Tab > Config > Select the printer icon on the right side and choose "Reset Configuration".

      The "Driver Reset" will delete all files from the shared directory containing information downloaded from the printer (media types, available qualities) and all internal SDK cache files, effectively reinstating the driver to help resolve SDK-related issues.

 

HP-Latex-360/370

  • Create a media patch if custom profiles are not saved on the printer controller. Additionally, export the QuickPrints
  • If needed, uninstall the printer driver in ServerAdmin and remove printer-specific files from the following locations:
    • /opt/caldera/lib/shared/
    • /home/caldera/.cas/CONFIGS/
    • /opt/caldera/lib/HPSDK/Linux/HP_SDK or /opt/caldera/lib/HPSDK/Mac/HP_SDK
      • In the HP-Latex-360 folder, ensure you delete the files hpldrlgl_backup.dat and hpldrlgl.dat

 

For users of Version 9

HP-Latex-360/370

  • Attempt to duplicate the driver while avoiding the use of the original name. 
  • Additionally, in ServerAdmin, stop the printer driver from running and remove or rename printer-specific files located in the directories:
    • /opt/caldera/lib/shared/
    • /CALDERADATA/Users/caldera/.cas/HPL3xx...
