Info
This article only concerns users who already have PrimeCenter and wish to upgrade it while keeping their configuration. New users are not concerned.
With the introduction of cut drivers, PrimeCenter V3 brings notable changes, requiring a significant data migration. This guide outlines the necessary steps, including an automatic backup and a data adjustment phase.
For a complete list of changes, see the changelog.
Overview
Here is an overview of the entire process to ensure a smooth transition.

Preparation phase: before the release of V3
Install/Update CalderaDock
CalderaDock is the central, secure application for managing the installation and updates of all your Caldera solutions.
Warning
Having the latest version of CalderaDock is a necessary step in the PrimeCenter V3 upgrade. The 3.0 version is exclusively downloadable from CalderaDock, not Workspace.
This ensures a secure upgrade process, as CalderaDock will automatically create a backup, preventing any potential data loss.
If you have not CalderaDock already installed in your workstation, download the latest version from your WorkSpace account.
Depending on your operating system, you can follow the dedicated instructions to install CalderaDock:

If you already have CalderaDock on your workstation, make sure you have at least version 3.4.1.
Directly from the CalderaDock application:
- You can check your CalderaDock version from Help > About.
- You can check for updates from Settings > Check now.
Update PrimeCenter to version 2.6.X
Warning
If you are not on version 2.6.x, upgrading to V3 will not be possible and the new version will not appear in CalderaDock.
Due to technical constraints, if your PrimeCenter is currently at a version older than 2.6.x, you will not be able to upgrade directly to V3. You will need to proceed in 2 stages:
- First update PrimeCenter to 2.6.0, 2.6.1 or 2.6.2.
- Then install version 3.0.
Read this article for more details on the PrimeCenter update.
Assignment of cut drivers to your license
Cut drivers are now included in the PrimeCenter license. As a user with an active license, you can assign up to 2 drivers:
- 1 generic PDF driver
- 1 brand-specific driver: Zund or Kongsberg PDF
Each assigned driver allows you to create and use up to 10 cutters. If you need additional drivers, please contact our sales team.
Warning
If you use cutters, it is essential to manually assign the drivers to your license. Otherwise, you will not be able to use them in the V3. See this article for more details on the assignment process.
If you don't need cutters, you don't have to assign cut drivers to your license. You will be able to use PrimeCenter without cutters.
Pre-upgrade: be ready for the upgrade
Optimization of the current settings
We recommend cleaning your current PrimeCenter settings by removing unnecessary data, such as images from the File manager, unused layouts, recipes or cutters.
We advise you to associate a cutter with each recipe you want to keep to preserve cut mark configuration. Otherwise, they may be deleted during the migration process
Upgrade: smooth transition and post-upgrade tasks
Upgrade to PrimeCenter V3
You are now ready to proceed with the upgrade. Ensure you have dedicated time as your production will be paused for a few hours: manual actions and tests will be required before resuming your production.
PrimeCenter V3 is available from the CalderaDock application. Read this article for more details on the PrimeCenter update.
Automatic backup
Clicking on Update or Download from CalderaDock will automatically initiate a backup of your current PrimeCenter version, capturing its entire configuration. You will be able to find this backup in the Caldera Snapshots tool, directly from CalderaDock, allowing you to restore it in case of any issues.
Warning - Executable/Installation file
Be aware that CalderaDock triggers the backup of your installation when you download the V3 executable file.
If you do not install PrimeCenter V3 right away and continue to work with your current PrimeCenter version, we recommend that you make a new backup manually using the Caldera Snapshots tool right before you decide to install the V3.
Data migration and recipe review
When you launch PrimeCenter V3, there will be an automatic migration of your existing data. This migration is mandatory to start using the V3.
Some parameters will be changed and will require manual actions on your part. Refer to this article for more information.
Once you have tested all your recipes, you can resume your production and take full advantage of PrimeCenter V3.
