This guide describes the process of registering your CalderaRIP and explains how to activate the software-based license.

Context

The CalderaRIP software-based license, introduced in version 12, eliminates the need for a USB dongle (although a dongle remains an optional accessory).

This license is managed through Sentinel LDK, a service used by Caldera for license management.

The license becomes active only after it is registered in WorkSpace and linked to the unique hardware identifier (fingerprint file) of the RIP computer where it will be used.

Prerequisites

  • A CalderaRIP valid license:
    • A 6-digit access number, which usually starts with 6xxxxx (provided via email).
    • The 20-digit activation code (provided via email).
  • An activation file (see the steps below).
  • An active WorkSpace account (need help with this? Click here)

CalderaRIP Activation

  1. Launch CalderaRIP.
  2. In the splash screen, click on Activate Product:

      Info

License activation is done through the CalderaDock application in recent versions. Please refer to the dedicated article if necessary.

  4. Followed by Save Fingerprint File:

      Info

The fingerprint file contains the unique hardware identifier of your computer. It may become invalid if the RIP computer is replaced, if hardware changes are made (e.g., installing a new graphics card), or, in rare cases, following an operating system upgrade or update.
In such instances, the license can be re-hosted following the steps outlined here: How to rehost or move a software-based license?

  5. Select the location where the fingerprint .C2V file should be saved (Downloads or Desktop are the most common locations) and click Save:

  6. After the Fingerprint is saved, leave the Activate New License window open:

For each printer, you have 7 days to make changes in the selection, in case of error.
At least one selection is mandatory at first-time registration.
You will be able to select other drivers later.

  6. Click Continue, and you will be prompted to upload your fingerprint file (not required when registering a demo license).
  7. Click Choose File to upload the saved Fingerprint file. Then, click Continue.
  8. You will then be redirected back to the Caldera Licenses Management page. Under Action > click the Down Arrow and download the Activation File (this will automatically save it to the computer's Downloads folder):
