Drivers
-
SummaFlex: Allows to send information to SummaFlex software but not the reverse.
Info
SummaFlex drivers are designed for use with the barcode production workflow in SummaFlex software. These drivers automatically print a Postnet barcode as part of the job. If printing a Postnet barcode is not required, you can use the OptiScout drivers instead.
- SummaFlex Connected: Allows having a bidirectional connection with the SummaFlex software. This means that you can import some material information into CalderaRIP.
- Summa GoProduce: Allows communicating with the GoProduce software (bidirectional connection). For more info, refer to How to configure GoProduce with Caldera
- Summa dual cutters: Combines the use of two cutters. For more info, refer to How to configure Summa dual cutters
Drivers History
SummaFlex
-
CalderaRIP V18.2:
- Now, this driver can automatically execute cut jobs on printed media generated with CalderaRIP. Previously, the associated barcodes were not detected due to overlapping with the origin of the registration marks. While a manual execution workaround was available, this functionality has now been integrated into the software, allowing for improved detection and efficiency.
-
CalderaRIP V17.3.0:
- A new "Add direction mark" checkbox was added to the Misc. area of the Cutter Tools Configuration for most cutting drivers. Activating this new field adds direction marks in the form of a triangle pointing to the bottom edge of the cut job, which significantly speeds up the operators' work when managing these files.
-
CalderaRIP V16.0.2:
- (01/2023) It is no longer necessary to scale the marks down on the cut controllers since now they have the same size both in the print and in the cut file.
-
CalderaRIP V11.1:
- (11/2017) The port parameter is now correctly used when connecting two (or more) Summa cutters by USB.
- (11/2017) Fixed wrong job orientation and fixed missing up and down edge marks.
- (10/2017) Intermediate marks are now present when using the automatic rotation of marks.
- (09/2017) Added autonomous mode (Autocut) for Summa cutters (requires the positioning set to “Single with marks” or “none” and connection set to “File”).
-

- (02/2017) New method "Rotary Knife" and increased PostNet barcode height to fix a potential reading issue.

Installation
Info
In the past, different cutting devices required separate licenses: CutServer for roll-to-roll cutters, GrandCut (A or B) for flatbed cutters, and a cut option for trimmers. This resulted in different installation methods depending on the device.
Today, annual subscribers and perpetual license holders with CalderaCare can use any CalderaRIP‑supported cutting device without an additional license.
| Roll-to-Roll (Legacy CutServer for VisualCut) | |
| Flatbed ("Legacy GrandCut A" if used with GoProduce or SummaFlex softwares, and "Legacy GrandCut B" if used with the OptiScout controller) |
