Epson SureColor S9100 - White and multilayers

This article explains how to print white ink, which is supported by the printer driver as a Spot Ink, as well as how to print different types of multilayer jobs.

 

How to print White ink?

  1. Go to Print Module Interface > Qualities, and select one compatible with White.
  2. Go to Print Module Interface > Page Setup:

  3. Go to the White tab and click on Enable ink separation:

  4. You can choose the separation method that best suits your production needs regarding the amount of white ink to be applied and its placement.

Multilayer

These roll printers support multilayer printing. The model designated for the American market (S9170) supports printing in 1 or 2 layers only, while models available in other countries can print in 1 to 3 layers.

Job submission is processed in segments; however, layers are submitted simultaneously, with each layer printed line by line.

 

How to print advanced multilayer jobs?

Applicable to users of drivers version 19 using the "Generic" option in the "Multilayer Style" menu under Printer Settings   ).

Recent driver versions enable printing of more advanced jobs on up to 3 layers. Please follow the steps in the articles below based on your production needs:

For step 5 ("Select the desired layer, then set your printing configuration"), proceed as follows:

  1. In the Print Module Interface, configure each layer as needed, ensuring you select a compatible quality setting ("Wh" for layers that include white ink).
  2. If the layer contains white ink, navigate to Page Setup > White tab, click "Enable Separation," and follow the steps outlined in the previous chapter.

 

How to print simple multilayer jobs?

Applicable to users of drivers version 18, or newer using the "Legacy" option in the "Multilayer Style" menu under Printer Settings   ).

The legacy method allows you to print basic multilayer jobs using the same image across up to 3 layers. To do this:

  1. Go to the Printer Settings > Printer tab and configure the top, normal, and bottom layers. This will specify in which order you want to put your layers on the media.
  2. Go to Print Module Interface > Qualities, and select one compatible with the layer configuration ("Wh" for layers that include white ink).
