CalderaRIP V18.1 - Changelog

  Info

  • All users: Some configurations are run in the background during the installation, which may seem relatively slow (especially on virtual machines). When the installation finishes, you will be asked to reboot: Please do not force the reboot yourself, as you may end up with an incomplete installation.
  • MacOS Ventura users: If an XQuartz update message appears after the CalderaRIP installation, please do not upgrade since the latest versions of this application present compatibility issues. If you have upgraded already, you can follow this article's instructions to downgrade.

April 2025

Version 18.1.0

Modules

Improved

User Experience:

  • Improved user experience by adding warnings to the software when disk space is low, specifically at the 10 GB threshold, before submitting a job:

Users can continue to print or rip files; however, if disk space drops below 5 GB, an error message will notify them that the job cannot be executed.

In this case, users can still submit the job to the Spooler queue, where it will appear in the error queue along with a message indicating that it could not be processed due to insufficient disk space:

      Info

If your job is stuck in the Spooler due to insufficient disk space, please free the space first and then relaunch the job (also from the Spooler).

When using workflows and hotfolders (automation), the warning for 10 GB of available disk space will not be shown. However, the 5 GB error message will appear, and jobs will be marked as "aborted" in the Spooler.

  • The software now checks for license compatibility at launch and displays a notification on the splash screen if an issue is detected:

  • Translated software labels into all available languages, addressing instances where some labels were previously displayed only in English.

Fixed

Double-sided printing (DSP): For printer drivers supporting this feature, we fixed a behavioral error that previously allowed the automatic generation of a Side B with rotation (while in manual mode).

Fixed
FileMan: Fixed the behavior of the module, which could crash when trying to load a large number of files at the same time. The problem could occur directly in FileMan or when uploading multiple files through HotFolders.

New
HotFolders: It is now possible to import or export HotFolders. The new button to do so, located at the bottom of the Configuration tab (V18 or later), allows users to easily share HotFolders settings across all workstations, including name, directory, filter, timeout, and processing order.

  Info

The "Send to..." setting is not included in the import/export.

Improved

Caldera REST API: Enhanced stability when importing images from CalderaRIP via the REST API.

Fixed

Caldera REST API: Fixed a bug that caused requests for job data to return an empty list when the current number of jobs exceeded 100.
The REST API now correctly supports pagination, allowing users to collect data for more than 100 jobs by specifying the appropriate limit and page parameters.

  Good to know

The latest version of the Caldera REST API includes new features relevant to CalderaRIP users. For more information, see the changelog for that product.

Printer drivers

Improved
Canon Colorado M Series:
  • The printer driver has been updated to support the latest firmware version (R4.4.2).
  • Changes to the EasyMedia parameters:
    • A new Winding Strategy parameter, allowing users to configure a value between 0 (looser) and 5 (tighter) for each media project.
    • The Optimize Color Profiling parameter has been removed, as it is no longer necessary for ICC profile selection.
    • For more details, please refer to the Media Management article of this driver.
  • In ServerAdmin > Configure > Connection tab, a new Spitbars option has been introduced. For more details, consult the Tips and Tricks chapter of this driver.

Fixed

HP (many drivers):

Fixed
HP Latex R530: Hardware margins have been removed when centering the job. In the initial release of this driver, using the "Center job in the IPS" feature resulted in a slight misalignment of 5mm, due to added margins on the left and top of the print. This adjustment ensures accurate job placement.

Fixed
SwissQPrint Generation 5 and Kudu: Correction of a problem in these drivers that prevented the processing of multi-resolution jobs, causing them to get stuck in the Spooler.

Now included in the full installer:

Cutter and Trimmer drivers

Improved
IECHO: In the Cutter Tools Configuration, a new field titled "Output Naming" has been added, allowing you to select from options: ID_name, name_ID, or just ID.

Fixed
Mimaki CJV300 (VisualCut driver): Fixed a bug with this VisualCut driver that caused crashes when macOS users started a cut job on the Mimaki CJV150 without any associated cut marks.

Fixed

Roland CAMM-1 GR: In VisualCut > Tools Settings and Priority, the default passes for the kiss cutting and pen tools have been updated from 0 to 1. Additionally, other default settings including speed, force, and offset, are now considered, addressing previous oversight.

Fixed

Summa S3 Postnet: Fixed the default values of the "Sheet Off" function, which previously resulted in cutting occurring within the job itself. This update enhances the accuracy of barcode detection.

Fixed

TPS: Renaming of the cutting marks from “Register” to “Mark”, improving integration with the TPS software.
